Technology Solutions

Technology Solutions was formed to empower people with disabilities to lead more independent lives. Trained staff in this unique division use assistive technology to help people to actively and successfully communicate; access the computer; and engage in educational and vocational curriculum; as well as, to control their environment. Because of technology individuals with great physical limitations can do things they never thought they would have the ability to do.

  • Children and adults who cannot speak, use augmentative communication systems to express their thoughts, feelings, and knowledge.
  • Adults who have never used a computer, access computers with specialized keyboards, pointing devices, and software to learn new skills, communicate to family far way, and research the Internet to learn more about the world beyond them.

Assistive technology exists in forms from simple, no-tech such as a pencil grip, to complex, high-tech devices. Assistive technology is truly the key to independence for people with disabilities.

Technology Solutions consists of two primary programs: The Redwood Assistive Technology Resource Center (RATRC) and the Computer Learning Center (CLC). Both programs focus in enabling individuals to access to the world around them.
