Leave A Legacy

There is an ancient proverb that praises the generosity and foresight of those whose kind deeds benefit the generations to come:

“It takes a noble person to plant a tree that will one day
provide shade for those he or she may never meet.”

At Redwood, we believe there is truth in this statement and encourage our friends to provide shade to those you may never meet by making a planned gift. These types of gifts are planned in advance of the donor’s passing and help ensure the sustainability of Redwood’s mission. Due to the many planned giving options available, most anyone can leave a legacy regardless of income level.

One example of a planned gift is life insurance. For pennies on the dollar each month, you can continue supporting Redwood beyond your years by designating Redwood as a partial beneficiary of your life insurance. You can reflect your wishes to leave a legacy for Redwood by simply changing your policy, which can be done at any time. Another option is to purchase a new life insurance policy and name Redwood as the sole beneficiary.

Aside from life insurance, there are countless other planned giving options. All of them allow you the opportunity to leave a legacy, but some may provide income or may decrease your or your heirs tax liability. A few examples include gifts of securities and real estate, charitable gift annuities, pooled income funds, charitable remainder trusts, bequests, and charitable lead trusts.

Redwood likes to honor the generosity and foresight of individuals who make a planned gift; unfortunately, however, we often do not find out about the donor’s legacy until after she or he has passed. Requests for anonymity are always honored, but we encourage you to let us know of your plans now so that we can welcome and honor you as a member of our Legacy Society.

Please consider including Redwood in your estate plans. We would be happy to discuss planned giving options to help you meet your philanthropic goals. For more information or to make us aware of your planned gift, please contact Telly McGaha via email or 859.344.5566.
